The first week

Dawn was in the intensive care unit at Northwestern until Friday and was transferred to Universtiy of Chicago in the Burn Center. She has been sedated for most of the week but family and friends continue to talk to her and play her favorite music because we believe she can still hear us. The doctors are concerned with the infection in her skin from the malaria and there are specialists at University of Chicago for this reason. They are also hoping to get her off the breathing tube soon. She opened her eyes for the first time in a week today!!!! Hopefully we will get to hear her voice soon. she has had many, many visitors and is quite popular.

Charity said it best last night...we all need to hold hands mentally and send Dawn our love and thoughts and positive energy - all together now
