Inspired

Dawn has been working hard everyday. She has been casted for prosthetics and in the meantime she has been learning how to use a motorized wheelchair. She has been working on transferring herself from her bed to her wheelchair and this task requires a lot of effort on her part. We went outside yesterday and Dawn practiced using the wheelchair in the driveway of RIC and took in some sun. She really enjoys her physical therapy and feels that she is getting the most out of it. Her goal right now is to be able to transfer herself from the bed to the wheelchair so that she may come and go as she pleases when she has free time. We watched a girl on her floor practice walking on her prosthetics that she just received and Dawn was inspired. She is ready to get hers and begin walking on her own. She told me yesterday that she will definitely be running in a marathon with her new legs! Dawn will continue to be a source of inspiration for all who know her.

Dawn doesn't know me, but I have been keeping up with her progress everyday. I feel like I have known her in a way. I am so truly spiritually lifted to know she is doing better physically and most importantly, mentally. I am excited for her to get her life back, as different as it may be. Keep going Dawn and look forward. You can do ANYTHING! You are a beautiful girl and will triumph. Close your eyes and imagine yourself running in that marathon. It's your reality and will happen. I'm so damn happy you are out of the hospital. Good for you!!
